The Nursery

Here at Sunny Creek Labs we have between 3 to 5 litters a year. Depending on the year, time of the year, we may have more or less. Females who live together will also cycle together, so it is not uncommon for us to have more than one litter on ground at a time, or one shortly after another. We devote our whole time to each litter, each puppy, practicing the Neurological Stimulation Program on each puppy.

Watching them grow! We know how excited each family is to see them grow, mature and develop, so we post a lot of photos and videos along the way on our Sunny Creek Labs facebook page, also Instagram "Sunnycreeklabmom" so you can follow along and watch them grow. You don't have to have a personal Facebook to view the page, it's a public page.

Our puppies are from Health Tested Parents. All breeding dogs have been Genetic tested, along with OFA's on Hips, Elbows and Eyes. We Guarantee all our puppies will never be "Affected" from the following diseases known to Labs. We test the parents for Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CN), Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis (HNPK), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and Copper Toxicosis (CT), Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome (Labrador Retriever Type) (CMS), Macular Corneal Dystrophy (Labrador Retriever Type) (MCD), Stargardt Disease (STGD). I continue to do testing as new test are developed.

Our puppies have Dew Claws removed.  A Wellness Check by Dr. Chris Gilbert Darke County Veterinary Service @ 7 weeks, 1st round of vaccinations, dewormed and Microchip with AKC Reunite.
I put together what I call a Puppy Book which includes Copies of parents health clearances, deworming schedule, Copy of 1st vaccination record, a couple of photographs of parents and AKC Registration papers, Puppy Collar and Leash, a Puppy blanket and a Lamb chop which both have Mom and Siblings scent.

Puppies stay here with us for 8 Weeks. It gives them time to adjust to life without Mom and much is learned from playing with Siblings and Big dogs. We provide a lot of stimualtion and learning during their first 8 weeks. It's very important puppies go home on time! Puppies need to start bonding with you, continue to work on potty training, and learn how to be a good member of the family. All puppies go home on time at 8 weeks age. We schedule pick ups all on one day.

We do early potty training. By the time your puppy is ready for his/her home, he/she will be potty trained to go in a potty pan. We feel like this is an early start in the potty training process. They learn to not use the bathroom in the area in which they sleep and play. We have gotten reports of easy potty training when our puppies go to their new homes.

Socialization. We provide an enormous amount of early socializing with children, adult Labs, cats and an overwhelming amount of toys, activity centers, peek-a-boo tunnels, slides, ball pits, musical instruments and outdoor playtime. We feel the more the puppy is exposed to, the better adjusted he is going to his new home. We have music playing constantly in the background. Lots of exposure to environmental stimulation. I devote all my time to each puppy, each litter to ensure they have the best start in life as possible and hopefully you have a more trainable dog.

All puppies have to be picked up in person. We want to meet you! We must meet you in person for transfer of your puppy. We prefer you pick up your Puppy here at our home so you can meet the Crew, your Puppy's Parents and have time to talk. On the rare occasion we meet you at the Airport with your puppy, we charge a $150. fee.
I do not ship puppies, I do not feel it's safe.

A deposit is required to be added to the waiting list. It helps us know exactly how many puppies we have promised and to who. Once your questionnaire has been received and approved, we require a $500.00 Non-refundable deposit to be placed on our list. This deposit will be subtracted from the total price of your puppy. If the puppy (gender and color) that you hoped for was not available from the litter of your choice, we would be happy to add your deposit and puppy choice to the next available litter. We will only accept a limited number reservations of each gender per litter, therefore hopefully ensuring you that you will have a Sunny Creek puppy in your future. If for any reason you need to cancel, please let us know and we can move your deposit to another litter. We take very seriously the responsibility of placing our puppies in the most loving and nurturing homes. Our puppies are priced at $3500.00 limited registration.

Balance due when puppies are 6 weeks old. On pickup day I enjoy visiting with families and getting to know you, talking about the needs of your new puppy, what to expect when you get home and it's one less thing to do. We accept personal checks, money orders by mail. Email for my home address.

Register your AKC puppy. All Puppies are Pre-Registered with AKC. We want to insure all puppies carry the Sunny Creek Prefix and are registered with AKC. AKC supports many things and by registering the Puppies we are supporting AKC. You’ll be asked to know what name you plan to use on your Puppy’s registration papers prior to pick up so each puppy can be registered by me.

Sold on Limited Registration. All puppies are sold on limited registration (no breeding rights)  We sell our pups on a Limited Registration, which means you can achieve ALL AKC titles except show in the conformation ring or use for breeding.

Puppy and Dog Class. After your puppy is 16 weeks of age and has received all his/her recommended vaccinations, we strongly suggest you located a Beginner puppy class, enroll and take your new puppy through several classes. Lab puppies benefit greatly from training, it also helps with bonding, socializing and helps them become a better family member.

Labs come in 3 colors only. Yellow, Black & Chocolate. Yellow Labs have a range of yellow from very light yellow to a dark yellow some call Red Fox. I do not breed for a certain shade of yellow. Most of my Yellow Labs have a medium yellow coat color.

Recommended Puppy Chew bones/toys. I personally use Nylabones, Benebones, West Paw Design & Kong toys.

Do not give your puppy or adult dog any form or raw hides or rope toys.

I only add families to my waiting list that have sent me a completed Puppy Questionnaire. All correspondence is through email including updates, choosing puppies, payments, etc. 🚨

If you are in a hurry for a puppy, I am not the breeder for you. All good things take time and lots of planning.
